Social Work Counseling Services (SWCS) is a unique human service agency founded in 2000 by Widener University's Center for Social Work Education in collaboration with the Chester Education Foundation. SWCS places social work interns in grass-roots community agencies to provide social work services to vulnerable populations and to provide capacity building services to community based organizations and groups.
During the past 13 years SWCS has partnered with over 20 community human service organizations and SWCS interns have provided thousands of hours of social work services and programing to residents of the Chester and its surrounding communities.
At SWCS, we utilize an integrative, strength based treatment model to address each individual's set of unique issues. Our social work student interns pull from cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, systems-focused, narrative and insight oriented approaches to design effective treatment and assessment services. It is our firm belief that treatment must be flexible and tailored in order to achieve symptom relief and increased personal growth. SWCS students also provide organizational and program evaluation services to our partner agencies.
SWCS program offices are located on Widener's Chester campus at the corner of 17th and Walnut Streets. For more information please contact the Aisha Hall, SWCS Program Director and Clinical Assistant Professor at 610.499.4684.
